The First Step
The First Step - myspace
About: The First Step started in early 2001 with two simple goals in mind: to invigorate their local North Carolina scene and to write fast, thrashy hardcore that was lyrically honest and open. While the last 4 years have taken them all over the North America and Europe the goals still remain the same. During this time The First Step has released two EP’s: a S/T 7inch and the Open Hearts and Clear Minds 7 inch and an LP entitled What We Know on Rivalry Records. As time goes by TFS has only become stronger and more focused on their ideals as a band and the music they love playing.

Whiskey and Daggers
About: Creeping form the swamps and woods of the Outer Banks W&D are putting a new twist on hip-hop. The style is fresh and so are the beats. W&D’s influences come from skating, late 80’s/early 90’s rap, and life. Real hip-hop is out there you just got to dig a little to find the real raw.

Common Cause
About: Common Cause started as an idea between Daniel and Jon in late 2005. Although they both had other bands at the time (Damage Control, Soulfire and Shipwrecked), they felt there was a certain style of hardcore they wanted to play, that didn’t quite fit with either of their current bands. A band drawing influences from 80’s hardcore bands like Youth Of Today, Straight Ahead or The Abused, rather than the X-Claim!-inspired sound of Shipwrecked or Damage Control’s more melodic edge. An idea of a band that wasn’t in conjunction with the latest fads, or tried to do something “new” or “progressive” - just a band that played by-the-book Hardcore, and did it well. They recruited Hans (Soulfire, Turn Cold) on second guitar, P.O. (Enforcer, Damage Control) on bass and Truls (Onward, Soulfire) on drums, and set out to do the band mainly on a project-basis, record a demo and maybe play a few shows. The 5-song demo was recorded in March of 2006, and upon it’s release about a month later it received a lot more attention than any of the members had dared hope for. Around the same time, Damage Control called it quits, and it was decided to make the band more serious.

Death Is Not Glamorous
About: Death Is Not Glamorous is a 5 piece band out of the Oslo, Norway. They started in the winter of ‘04 to play music that inspired them to make the best out of their lives so its no surprise that the lyrics have reflected this! Featuring members of Damage Control, DinG dropped one of the best demos in recent memory - 5 tracks of melodic hardcore punk which sounds like a hybrid of Lifetime, early Saves The Day, late Turning Point and Shelter.

Serpents
About: “If the Day of Judgment is upon us, Serpents shall provide its apocalyptic soundtrack from atop a fiery mountain of skulls, weed and Sunn cabinets. The Asheville four-piece employs equal worship of Constellation and Neurot bands and the ruler of darkness in its attempts to meld the most haunting, bone-rattling doom/drone hybrid south of the Mason-Dixon.” -RI, Independent Weekly, Raleigh.

Epoxy
About: A high-strength adhesive, often made of two different materials that must be mixed together just prior to use. Various resins capable of forming tight cross-lined polymer structures characterized by toughness and strong adhesion. i.e. This music is hard enough to kick your ass.

Triple Threat
About: The idea was simple and natural, yet its distinction laid within the details: straight edge hardcore rooted in the message and power of Minor Threat and Youth Of Today that also nodded in appreciation of bands whose sound McMahon and McKirdy had dissected through their youths though their influence were not blatantly felt. Black Flag, SSD, The Germs, Motorhead, Corrosion of Conformity, Circle Jerks, Bl’ast! and Danzig were just a few bands whose contributions had rubbed off heavily on the conceptualization of this new McMahon/McKirdy unit. Triple Threat was born quickly with a pinpointed direction.
